DOE energizes 18 barangays

Due to incessant efforts of Congressman Odong Saludo, eighteen (18) barangays are scheduled for energization, the Department of Energy recently announced.

In a letter sent by Energy Undersecretary Emmanuel De Dios to Saludo, he bared that various barangays in Maasin City, Macrohon, Sogod and Tomas Oppus have been selected to benefit under the O Ilaw program, the electrification project of the government.

Through a concerted project that would be undertaken by the Philippine National Oil Corporation-Energy Development Corporation (PNOC-EDP) and National Electrification Administration (NEA), the following barangays would soon be powered by electricity: Cabadiangan, Cagnituan, Canyuom and Tigbawan in Maasin City, Cambato and Salvador in Macrohon, Cabadbaran, Hipantag, Kauswagan, San Francisco Mabuhay, San Juan, Santa Maria and Lum-an, Libas in Sogod and barangays Anahawan, Camansi, Carnaga, Cawayan and Rizal in Tomas Oppus.

NEA is also targeting to rehabilitate the Hinabian Mini-hydro plant in St. Bernard in order to maximize its full potential as energy resource.
