Southern Leyte road network project bared
Due to consistent coordination by Cong. Saludo with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Southern Leyte was included as one of the beneficiaries of the Arterial Road Link Development Project under the 23rd Yen Loan Package.
The 23rd Yen Loan Package has a 6 year life span and is managed by a group of Japanese consultants and engineers coordinating with their counterpart at the Project Management Office (PMO) of the DPWH.
The PMO of DPWH is currently undergoing pre-qualification evaluation of interested bidders for the said road project. The result of the evaluation will be made public this month. The Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) of the project is expected to come out with its pre-qualification resolution this coming March which will then be submitted to the JBIC panel for its concurrence. The issuance of bid documents and the necessary site visits are expected to commence on May. Opening of bids is scheduled on July and the approval of resolution of award is set on August. The issuance of the Notice to Proceed for the winning contractor will be on December, finally signaling the start of actual construction.
In an interview, Saludo said that the road network project is a dream-come-true for Southern Letyeños. “I have been receiving tons of inquiries about this project, not only from our constituents here in the province, but also from Southern Leyteños living in foreign countries. I would like to reassure you that this project would soon materialize. I will not stop pursuing this project until it is completed”, Saludo added.
